Kunsthall Stavanger considers educational programming a crucial part of the contemporary art field, therefore our educational initiatives are at the core of our institutional mission. The kunsthall has a profound and innovative focus on education for kids and youth, offering activities from early childhood up until young adulthood. In our programming, we explore tools and methods used in contemporary art that focus on process rather than object-oriented making.
The intention of our educational programmes is to facilitate and engage access to contemporary art to a broad audience. Through collaborations with professional artists, educators and youth workers, we activate contemporary art as a relevant and vital element of everyday life. We strive to empower children, young people and adults to utilize tools and methods from contemporary art to help express themselves and find their voice in society.

Program Overview
We offer various educational programs. Read more about each program by clicking on the titles.
Arty Party – For children 6–12 years
Each semester, a new artist is invited in to program three events where children and young people will take over the kunsthall. Each event has a set of activities, such as workshops, concerts, tours and discos.
Art Club – For children in 1st–8th grade
In the Art Club, various practices within the field of contemporary art are explored. Through four workshops per semester (one Sunday a month), children get to meet and work with artists on various projects, which wraps up with an exhibition for family and friends. Registration is required.
Mobilizing Citizenship – For youth
In Mobilizing Citizenship, a small group of young people meet Norwegian and international artists in several workshops during a semester at Kunsthall Stavanger. Here we examine how young people can use tools and methods from contemporary art to express themselves and be heard in today's society. Registration is required.
School Workshops – For children between 5th year primary school and 3rd year upper secondary school
Every semester we welcome school classes to unique workshops based on our current exhibitions. In previous workshops the students have created their own news broadcast, produced a dance video, and participated in many other great activities. We also offer workshops in English.

Spring 2023 Educational Theme
During the Spring 2023 semester, we will be working with what care can look like. We will focus on what it can mean to give and receive care.
We can experience care with our family, friends and classmates, even with animals and nature. Together we will look at how expressing ourselves using artistic tools can be a way to show care, both for ourselves and others.
